WILL THE DURGA PUJA EVENT BE HOSTED IN AN INDOOR SETTING?

Bay Area Prabasi Durga Puja will be inside the Chabot Cafeteria and Saturday’s Cultural Program in the Chabot auditorium. 

Tickets issued by Purplepass will be needed to attend the auditorium events (both the afternoon local cultural show and Kavita Krishnamurti concert) 

There will be plenty of chairs and bench seating available for guests in the courtyard, and food will be served outdoors.

All events on Sunday will only be at the Cafeteria.

HOW ARE YOU FOLLOWING COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS INDOORS?

Only 100 people will be allowed inside the Cafeteria at any one point in time. Families need to be in their small pods with strict social distancing measures enforced. Masks have to be worn at all times. Auditorium seating will be socially distant unless members of the same household are attending together. The total seating in the Auditorium will be for 300 ppl (the hall capacity is 1400+), all attendees, 12 years or older need to be completely vaccinated. Plenty of outdoor space and seating available for you to be socially distant.

HOW WILL VACCINATION VERIFICATION HAPPEN?

All attendees are requested to bring in their valid-id card with vaccination proof (digital or actual card) to pick up their wristbands at the registration booth. We encourage only vaccinated members above 12 years to attend the pujas this year. All attendees will need to fill out a Covid exposure pre-screen questionnaire before entering the event as well.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR FULL VACCINATION PROOF?

For vaccination proof, both CDC-issued Card and Digital QR Code (issued from https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/) will be accepted.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE DETAILED SCHEDULE FOR THIS EVENT, SPECIALLY PUSHPANJALI?

PARKING AT THE VENUE

Over 1K parking spots are available at the venue. Parking permits are required Friday and Saturday to park on Chabot Campus. Daily parking permits ($3/day) can be purchased from dispensers located in parking lots. Campus security will strictly enforce parking restrictions. Parking Lot B (facing Hesperian Blvd) is closest to the Puja Mandap while Parking Lot G, located at the corner of Hesperian Blvd and Depot Road, is most directly accessible to the Performing Arts Center.

DO I NEED TICKETS FOR THE LOCAL PROGRAM?

All guests who are assigned complimentary seating during the local cultural event (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) will receive their tickets from [email protected]; if you have not received your tickets by Friday night (10/8), please get in touch with [email protected]. Seatings were assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please print your tickets at home or have them ready in your mobile phone. A ticket is absolutely necessary to enter the auditorium.

Seatings were assigned on a first come first serve basis. Please print your tickets at home or have them ready in your mobile phone. A ticket is absolutely necessary to enter the auditorium.

CAN I SIT WITH MY FRIENDS IN THE AUDITORIUM?

Chabot auditorium only allows family members living in the same household to sit together if they bought the ticket together using the same email address. The PurplePass Automated Social Distancing Tool used by Chabot uses an algorithm to assign seating, and no special requests can be accommodated. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

I AM UNHAPPY WITH THE CONCERT SEATING, CAN I REQUEST A REFUND?

All sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable or transferable as seating has been planned based on family pods and maintaining social distancing protocols. On-site ticket sales are not permitted.

WILL THERE BE ANY ENTRY FEE TO ATTEND JUST THE DURGA PUJA?

Due to the need to know headcount in advance and Bay Area Prabasi’s vaccine proof requirement, our event is open to only members and their registered guests this year. We will live stream the Durga Puja and local cultural events in our social media channels.

CAN I COME TO THE VENUE TO BECOME A MEMBER?

All visitors will need to pre-register and provide their vaccination information before entering the event. Hence we won’t be able to accommodate onsite registration or ticket sales. All membership needs to be completed by Oct 8th to attend the event onsite.

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS VALID PHOTO-ID PROOF?

Acceptable Ids are those issued by the government like Passport, Driver’s License, State-Id, and ones issued by educational institutions like Student-Id cards with photographs.

CAN I SEND SOMEONE TO PICK UP MY MEMBERSHIP WRISTBAND?

This year we will be issuing membership wristbands based on the vaccination status of each individual. Hence every member MUST be present with a valid photo-id & full vaccination proof to pick up their wristband, which will allow them to avail all services available at the venue.

WILL THERE BE ANY SPOT FOR ME TO GATHER WITH MY FRIENDS INSIDE CHABOT?

Even though there is a big outdoor campus, we request all attendees and visitors to maintain social distance while staying within their social bubble and wearing face masks except when actively eating and drinking water.

CAN I BRING FLOWERS OR SWEETS FOR THE ANJALI?

We will provide flowers to all devotees for the Pushpanjali. Due to Covid-Safety protocol, please do not bring flowers this year. You may bring boxed sweet packets for offering to the goddess and should take it home unopened.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE SINDOOR DAAN CEREMONY THIS YEAR?

Pratima Baran and Sindoor Daan will be restricted only to members and their registered guests. Please expect some wait time due to capacity restrictions in Cafeteria.

CAN I PURCHASE THE "BHOG" or Dinner AT THE VENUE?

Food will be available for our members and registered guests only; there will be no option to purchase food.

WILL THERE BE ANY VENDORS AT THE EVENT?

There are non-food vendor stalls available at the event.

WILL THERE BE ANY LIVE STREAMING OF THE DURGA PUJA?

Like last year, we will live stream the Durga Puja, Anjali, and local cultural programs through our social media channels.
